What Is Sage Used For - Smudging

Have you ever felt depressed? Surely, everyone has. However, not everyone knows about the ritual that can not only help relieve that emotion, but bring positive into their life and space. Smudging is a spiritual cleansing technique that originated from the North American tradition and has existed for thousands of years. Until recently, it was not recognized by the West, and therefore may seem strange to some individuals. However, smudging is a helpful and sacred ritual that can be performed by anyone. Smudging consists of lighting herbs, usually sage or sweet grass, to produce smoke and spreading that smoke wherever the individual feels energy needs cleansing. Smudging can also subtly remove ghosts from a particular area, as some believe the scent of herbs is disliked by spirits. Others believe it is simply the intent behind the smudging that ushers out negative energies and undesired spirits. Either way, the smoke created by smudging can produce miraculous results by leaving behind a trail of positive, renewed energy.

Firstly, a smudge stick must be obtained. A smudge stick is a bundle of dried herbs (usually sage or sweet grass) bonded together with thread or a strip of hide. To ensure the ashes are contained, a special container or shell can be used to set the smudge stick in. Another option is to place the loose herbs onto a dish. Placing coal beneath the herbs will ensure that the ritual will not be interrupted due to the herbs having to be constantly relit. It should be noted that smudging should not occur around individuals with respiratory issues and that smoke alarms may need to be turned off.

The smudge stick or loose herbs are then lit with a regular lighter. However, the flame is unimportant. It is the smoke that the flame creates that is significant. This means that the herbs should not be relit unless the smoke has stopped. Before starting the process, some choose to say a small prayer to intensify the process. Others may say a prayer throughout smudging and some may just trust that the smoke will clear out anything necessary.

The process of smudging depends on what you want to smudge. You may smudge people to clear their energy and bring a sense of refreshment. Alternatively, smudging secondhand items can also be very helpful as it will clear old energy and renew the object. Perhaps most important, houses can be smudged to bring in positive energy and force out spirits.

Smudging yourself or others can be done by moving the lit bundle or dish of herbs so that the whole body is immersed in smoke. This is usually done by passing the bundle or dish from hand to hand around the body from top to bottom. More smoke can be pushed towards areas of the body that experience physical or emotional distress. Alternatively, if you want to smudge second hand items, simply move the lit bundle or dish so the whole item is touched by the smoke.

Smudging a house or room is a little more complicated and time consuming, but still rewarding. First, slightly open a window or door to provide an exit for the negative energy or spirits that will be ushered out by the smoke. Then, after lighting the herb, pick a room to smudge first. The order in which you smudge the rooms does not matter. Next, move the bundle or dish around the perimeter of each room, placing emphasis on each corner. Some people like to walk around the room counter-clockwise as they believe it will 'undo' any negative energy. However, you may also walk clockwise if you feel it is more appropriate. When smudging a house it is important to remember certain areas that may be overlooked. For example, energy can be hiding under furniture, in closets or in attics. In addition, it's best to let your intuition guide you to what areas may need more smoke.

When you are done smudging, set the smudge stick or dish down. The smoke will soon stop. To close this ritual, some choose to say a thank you prayer. You may smudge again whenever you feel it is necessary. You can smudge on a regular schedule (ex. every month, season, etc.). Or, you can smudge when you are feeling depressed, moving into a new house or after a big change (divorce, death, illness, etc.).

Whether the effects of smudging come from the smoke itself, or if the smoke just acts as a placebo, a substance to merely calm someone, is not known. However, the technique of smudging is sacred and powerful for both people of the North American tradition and Westerners alike.

The pineal gland, also known as the pineal bodyconarium or epiphysis cerebri, is a small endocrine gland in thevertebrate brain. It produces melatonin, a serotonin derived hormone, which affects the modulation of sleep patterns in both seasonal and circadian rhythms.[1][2] Its shape resembles a tiny pine cone (hence its name), and it is located in theepithalamus, near the center of the brain, between the two hemispheres, tucked in a groove where the two halves of thethalamus join.
Nearly all vertebrate species possess a pineal gland. The most important exception is the hagfish, which is often thought of as the most primitive extant vertebrate. Even in the hagfish, however, there may be a "pineal equivalent" structure in the dorsal diencephalon. The lancelet Branchiostoma lanceolatum, the nearest existing relative to vertebrates, also lacks a recognizable pineal gland.[3] The lamprey (considered almost as primitive as the hagfish), however, does possess one.[3] A few more developed vertebrates, including the alligator, lack pineal glands because they have been lost over the course of evolution.[5]
The results of various scientific research in evolutionary biology, comparative neuroanatomy and neurophysiology, have explained the phylogeny of the pineal gland in different vertebrate species. From the point of view of biological evolution, the pineal gland represents a kind of atrophied photoreceptor. In the epithalamus of some species of amphibians and reptiles, it is linked to a vestigial organ, known as the parietal eye which is also called the third eye.[6]
René Descartes believed the pineal gland to be the "principal seat of the soul" (a mystical concept). Academic philosophy among his contemporaries considered the pineal gland as a neuroanatomical structure without special metaphysical qualities; science studied it as one endocrine gland among many.

Dark Energy Is Taring The Universe Apart

dark energy is a repulsive force that opposes the gravitation of matter and accerates the expansion of the universe. Dark energy entered physics in 1998 after images from the Hubble Space Telescope of a distant supernova implied an accelerating, expanding universe. The discovery of this required a new cosmological model. Dark energy's presence is predicted in particle physics, however it has never been directly observed. It is generally accepted that dark energy makes up most of the universe which is 70% dark energy, 25% dark matter and 5% ordinary matter. In 2006, scientists found evidence of the effects of dark energy dating back to 9 billion years ago using a space telescope.

The name "dark energy" refers to the fact that "something" must be filling the vast reaches of mostly empty space in the Universe in order to explain the accelerating expansion of the universe. In this sense, it is a "field" just like an electric field or a magnetic field, both of which are produced by electromagnetic energy. This analogy can only be taken so far, because we can readily observe electromagnetic energy via the particle that carries it, the photon.

The nature of dark energy is speculative. It is known to be very homogeneous, not very dense and is not known to interact through any of the fundamental forces other than gravity. Since it is not very dense it is hard to create a testable laboratory expirament. Dark energy can only have such a profound impact on the universe, making up 70% of universal density, because it uniformly fills otherwise empty space. The two leading models are quintessence and the cosmological constant. Both models include the common characteristic that dark energy must have negative pressure.

Quantum Entanglement

Entanglement is a term used in quantum theory to describe the way that particles of energy/matter can become linked to predictably interact with each other regardless of how far apart they are.

Entanglement is a quantum theory term used in Physics to depict the way particles of matter or energy can become linked to predictably interact with each other regardless of the distance between them.

Particles like electrons and photons can be entangled with each other in pairs as a result of them retaining a mysterious connection. This process is known as correlation. Knowing an entangled particle’s spin state allows one to know that the spin of the particle’s mate/pair is in the opposite direction. For example if one particle is spinning up, it’s mate is spinning down. Whats even more bizarre is due to the knowledge of Superposition Phenomena, the particle being measured has no single direction of spin before it’s measured, yet it is simultaneously in both an up and down spin state. Spin state of the particle being measured is decided at the time it’s being measured, then it is communicated to it’s mate particle, which instantly assumes the opposite spin direction of the original measured particle. Quantum entanglement allow ‘Qubits’ separated by vast distances (even light years) to interact with each other instantly in a communication interaction that is not limited to the speed of light. As long as the particles are isolated, they will remain entangled no matter how great the distance.

Entanglement is a real observable scientific phenomenon. Einstein referred to it as “spooky action at a distance”, it has been demonstrated many times in scientific experiments. A proposed theory of this suggest that all particles in the universe were once compacted tightly together and as a result still maintain a connectedness.
Much practical research is focusing on how to harness the potential of entanglement by developing systems for quantum cryptography and quantum computing.
In 1997, Nicholas Gisin and his team at the University of Geneva used entangled photons to allow a simple yet instantaneous communication over a distance of 7 miles.

Does the human brain contain a system of quantum entangled structures? Could this entanglement provide connection to other systems, perhaps to the entire space-time continuum?

This is really mind boggling. If true, it could provide a physical definition of mind vs brain, explain mental processes that seem to exceed the physical computational capacity of the macroscopic brain structures, and substantiate and explain telepathy, clairvoyance, telekinesis, out-of-body experiences/astral projection, near-death experiences, paranormal encounters (ghosts); reincarnation; past life memories, etc.

My personal philosophy for decades has been that, if there is such a thing as a greater consciousness, it is what I would call the Cosmic Consciousness (CC), that is, a consciousness comprised of a universal intelligence with links to every consciousness in the space-time continuum. Quantum entanglement would provide a physical medium for such links.

Since any closed system eventually stagnates, the CC obtains external input to avoid stagnation. This is accomplished by allowing portions of the CC to break contact and exist independently - what we refer to as "souls". The experiences of these isolated consciousnesses provide the external input when they rejoin the CC. That is, we are all volunteers living isolated from the CC, providing it with new input through our life experiences. I thought this idea was pretty original, until I found out about a similar idea that it has been around for ages in Buddhism. Their idea was that some of their most revered priests actually reached Nirvana, but chose to stay on earth to guide others, instead of passing on over.

How To Feel Your Chi For Beginners

STRING THEORY...Everything Is Vibration

String theory, also called superstring theory, is a fast-growing discovery in the field of physics. It also relates to spiritual beliefs and the paranormal.
String theory attempts to find one rule of physics that applies to everything. And, physicists may have found it.

According to string theory, everything is based on minute strings too small to be directly observed that each, like violin strings, have a vibration. The quality of that vibration determines the characteristics of the object, and perhaps our experiences, too.

This discovery coincides with breakthroughs in the spiritual community. Philosophers and spiritual leaders such as Dr. Wayne Dyer and Abraham of Abraham-Hicks now emphasize the power of thought and intention also described as vibration in creating our life experiences.

"Your environment comes in response to your thoughts. So often, humans play it the other way around. Their thoughts come in response to their environment." -- Abraham-Hicks, December 2003 Quarterly Journal Many philosophers and scientists, discussing the spiritual implications of string theory, suggest that a Deity is the source of the vibrations of the universe.

Some also speculate that a general, cosmic vibration is Deity's presence in us, and that on some levels we are all connected.
Abraham advises us to monitor our personal vibrations, to remain "in tune" with the experiences that we desire. Our emotions are our guide; when we're happy, we're attracting positive experiences. According to these teachings, maintaining the appropriate vibration is the only sure way to attract what we want.

"'We become what we think about all day long.' The question is, 'What do you think about?'" -- Wayne Dyer, on manifesting spiritual change, quoting Ralph Waldo Emerson
Chanting, or the use of sound as spiritual meditation and worship, is a long held tenet in many religions and spiritual maditations, including Buddhism and Yoga meditation. But, there are other connections between vibrations and spirituality.
For many people, vibration--experienced as sound is an innate connection with our inner being, and perhaps Deity. Will string theory produce hard evidence of this? Proving it may take awhile.

String theorists are studying gravity. Gravity holds the planets in orbit, and maintains our physical connection with Earth as our planet spins in space. Yet, gravity can be easily overcome by a force as small as a magnet. This apparent incongruity has baffled scientists for years.

Gravity is the most likely proof of string theory. From the University of Washington to Fermilab, and the Large Hadron Collider, scientists are aggressively studying where gravity goes when particles are smashed.
Gravity may be released into those alternative worlds. Following the path of that energy would provide the breakthrough that physicists seek.
But, there is another spiritual aspect of this: For string theory to be true, and it appears that it is, there must be at least ten dimensions, not just the three (plus time, as the fourth) that we perceive.
Further, there must be parallel existences that encompass other realities... perhaps all possible alternative realities.

For centuries, perhaps longer, people have talked about alternative worlds that interact with ours. Whether they describe it as the domains of Heaven and Hell, the faerie world, the "other side," or something else altogether, there are intense shared and dissimilar aspects of these worlds.
Science fiction has long played with the concept of parallel worlds. "Mirror, Mirror," the old Star Trek episode is just one popular example.
When psychics such as John Edward talk about "crossing over," where do people cross over to? The afterlife that he describes resembles our own world more than the classical portrayal of Heaven.
Likewise, if there are many parallel worlds, do they share the same Deity or Deities? Does Deity live in one of these other worlds, and interact with alternative realities at whim?

String theory may unify science and spirituality. The possibilities are as numerous as the alternative worlds and realities that may exist.

KUNDALINI AWAKENING

Kundalini is a psycho-spiritual energy, the energy of the consciousness, which is thought to reside within the sleeping body, and is aroused either through spiritual discipline or spontaneously to bring new states of consciousness, including mystical illumination. Kundalini is Sanskrit for "snake" or "serpent power," so-called because it is believed to lie like a serpent in the root chakra at the base of the spine. In Tantra Yoga kundalini is an aspect of Shakti, the divine female energy and consort of Shiva. Spiritual meditation is the best path to awakening this force.
With proper meditation techniques, the power of kundalini is said to be enormous. Those having experienced it claim it to be indescribable. The phenomena associated with it varies from bizarre physical sensations and movements, pain, clairaudience, visions, brilliant lights, superlucidity, psychical powers, ecstasy, bliss, and transcendence of self. Kundalini has been described as liquid fire and liquid light.
Indian yoga, with its emphasis on the transmutation of energy to higher consciousness, is the chief contributor to the cultivation of kundalini and the preservation of its knowledge prior to present times.

An examination of mystical literature and traditions showed that kundalini, called by various names, seems to have been a universal phenomenon in esoteric teachings for perhaps three thousand years. Kundalini-type descriptions or experiences are found in esoteric teachings of the Egyptians, Tibetans, Chinese, some Native Americans, and the !Kung bushmen of Africa. Kundalini has been interpreted from the Bible as "the solar principle in man," and is referenced in the Koran, the works of Plato and other Greek philosophers, alchemical tracts, and in Hermetic, Kabbalistic, Rosicrucian, and Masonic writings.

Not all kundalini experiences are identical to those classical awakenings experienced in yoga, but may vary in intensity and duration. Typically the yogi meditation techniques arouse the kundalini and then to raise it through his or her body. (It should be remembered though, not all types of yoga are devoted to the arousal of kundalini.) When doing spiritual meditation, first, the yogi feels the sensation of heat at the base of the spine, which may be intensely hot or pleasantly warm. The energy then travels up a psychic pathway parallel to the spinal column. The sushumna is the central axis, crisscrossed in a helix by the ida and pingala. As it rises the kundalini activates the chakras in succession. The body becomes cold and corpse-like as the kundalini leaves the lower portions and begins to rise. The yogi is likely to shudder, tremble, or rock violently, feel extreme heat and cold, hear strange but not unpleasant sounds, and see various kinds of lights including an inner light. The length of the kundalini may be fleeting or last several minutes. The objective is to raise the kundalini to the crown chakra, where it unites with the Shiva, or the male polarity, and brings illumination. The yogi then attempts to lower the energy to another chakra, but not below the heart chakra because descent to lower chakras is thought to produce ego inflation, rampant sexual desire, and a host of other ills. By repeatedly raising the kundalini to the crown, the yogi can succeed in having the energy permanently stay there.

It is said that kundalini opens new pathways in the nervous system; the pain associated with this apparently is due to the nervous system's inability to immediately copy with the energy. Yogis assert that the body must be properly attuned for kundalini through proper yoga meditation techniques, and that a premature or explosive awakening can cause insanity or death. It is best to begin with a guided meditation for beginners.
Other individuals, it has been determined by Western psychologists and psychiatrists, have experienced kundalini awakenings but not the explosive kind. One notable characteristic of these lesser awakenings is that the individual thinks, acts, and feels remarkably different. Symptoms may involve involuntary and spasmodic body movements and postures; pain; abnormal breathing patterns; paralysis; tickling itching; vibrating sensations; hot and cold sensations; inner sounds, such as roaring, whistling, and chirping; insomnia; hypersensitivity to environment; unusual or extremes of emotions; intensified sex drive; distortion of thought processes; detachment; disassociation; sensations of physical expansion; and out-of-body experiences (OBEs). Generally the elimination of such symptoms can be brought about by a heavier diet and temporary cessation of meditation. The phenomena of these lesser kundalini awakenings seem to indicate that the definition may have to be expanded from that of the coiled serpent of yoga. Such experienced awakenings are difficult to definitely define though because scientific research of kundalini energy is still in its embryonic stages, little is known of the energy's nonphysical nature, and many of its symptoms are similar to those associated with mental disturbances and stress.

Mind Over Body

It seems there is no real division between the mind and the body. Both work together as part of the human whole and changes in one influence the other. Nothing is all in the mind, or just physical. We seem to be extraordinary mixtures of mind and matter, able almost to use one to create the other, explains this documentary film. Each one of us certainly has the power and science now has given us the means to take personal responsibility for our own well-being. We can control our own pain, look after our own fitness, and take drug free action…

I encourage everyone to watch these videos about the power our mind has over our bodies.

The Link Between Quantum Physics & Buddhism

The world of quantum mechanics has attested that the language of eastern mystics and western physicists are becoming very similar. 'Emptiness' is Buddhism's most esoteric metaphysical concept and it can be likened to the subatomic level of quantum physics. Quantum Mechanics provides us a key to understand particles, atoms and molecules. It posits that on the subatomic level there is no distinction between wave and particle, as found by Louis de Broglie early this century. The wave-particle duality shattered the then widely held "common sense" that waves can't be particles and vice versa. Buddhist metaphysics posits that in the enlightened state "this" and "that" no longer are separate entities. "Empty" and "full" are "false distinctions" that we have created, like the distinction between "something" and "nothing". They are abstractions from experience which we have mistaken for experience. Perhaps we have lived so long in our abstractions that instead of realizing that they are drawn from the real world we believe that they are the real world.
The Heart Sutra, which is among the most central of the Buddhist core teachings, contains one of the most important ideas of Mahayana Buddhism (the school of Buddhism practiced in Tibet, China, and Japan): ……form is emptiness, emptiness is form.
The old physics, Newtonian physics, assumes that there is an external world which exists apart from us. It further assumes that we can observe, measure and speculate about the external world without changing it. However, on the microscopic level, Newtonian physics, as meritorious as it is, proves to be an inadequate tool to predict future events. The new physics, quantum mechanics, tells us that it is not possible to observe reality without changing it. There is a strong correlation between the observed and the observer. A phenomenon exists only because there is an observer. It is the observer's choice which determines the electron's response, i.e. a particle-like or wave-like pattern. Thus, the classical view of an objective system as it is and independent of the choice of how it is observed, is practically rendered no longer valid.
The observed phenomenon and the observer together constitute the complete system. In principle, there is no such thing as objectivity. Not only do we influence our reality, but, in some degree, we actually create it. Reality is what we choose to make it. This subjectivity fundamentally challenges our cherished beliefs in cause and effect. According to Niels Bohr, there does not exist any reality or any laws of nature independent of the observer. The observer cannot be isolated in any sense from what he is observing. He is part of the phenomenon. In a definite sense he creates it. This is precisely what Thubten Chodron means with her cracker analogy. A Chinese proverb says, "Life is a search for truth: there is no truth."
As much as Buddhist philosophy appear ivory tower-like to many, quantum mechanics is deemed so bizarre - more bizarre than science fiction - by physicists themselves that Niels Bohr desperately asserted, "Anyone who is not shocked by the Quantum Theory has not understood it!". It is so shocking that it was unacceptable even to Einstein and Schrödinger. Einstein rejected it with the famous saying "God does not play dice!".

Brief Intro To Chi

Chi, the life force that penitrates the universe. In addition to being in all living things, chi is also found in inanimate objects. Although chi is a metaphysical construct, rather than something which can be mathematically quantified and measured, belief in chi is widespread in many Asian nations and disciplines including Traditional Chinese Medicine, martial arts, and feng shui, a Chinese art which involves balancing objects within their environment.
Some scientist argue that there is a relationship between chi energy and the zero point field. In some schools of thought it is seen as the lowest energy form that embodies space-time.

Many cultures have a concept similar to that of vital energy which runs through all things, such as prana in the yogic tradition. When it is in a proper state of balance, the energy moves smoothly through the space which it inhabits, and supports rather than fights against the space. Balancing this energy is a crucial part of living a healthy and calm life for many people in Asian countries, and the concept of energetic balance has been adopted by some Western nations as well.

An imbalance of chi can lead to ill health and/or discomfort in one's environment. Acupuncture, Acupressure, and other types of Traditional Chinese Medicine are used to correct the imbalance, by unblocking the flow of chi through the meridians of the body.

It is important for science to move away from orthodox methods and begin to research Chi with legit scientific methods. After all, at one point in time it was considered foolish to think the world is round, we are made of atoms, the earth revolves around the sun, etc. It wasn't until someone gave these facts serious inquiry and investigation that they became acceptable.

Could this be the story of Chi?

Time Travel VIA Time Dialation

Whenever we move to another coordinate in spacetime, our position on the time coordinate changes, even if we don't notice. This causes time to elapse. In everyday life we are always traveling through time. When we travel through space we travel through time by less than we expect. This can be illustrated in the following example:

Imagine 2 twin brothers. On their 30th birthday, one of the brothers goes on a space journey in a really fast rocket that travels at 99% of the speed of light. The space traveler continues on his light speed journey for one year. He than returns to Earth on his 31st birthday. To his surprise, on earth, 7 years have passed, and his twin brother is now 37. This strange scenario is caused by time is stretching by factor 7 at 99% of the speed of light. This means that in the space traveler’s reference frame, one year is equal to 7 years on earth, even though to their perception, time appeared to have passed normally.
The effect of time dilation is negligible for common speeds, like the speed of a car or a fighter jet, but it increases significantly when one approaches light speed.

Time Dilation effects have been experimentally confirmed by using extremely precise caesium clocks that can measure very small periods of time. In today’s reality, time dilation is unattainable to mankind. This is because we have not yet come up with a way of traveling at speeds where time dilation becomes noticeable. Even traveling at supersonic speeds on a jet for a long period of time will not propel you into the future, it’s simply not fast enough. It takes an almost limitless amount of energy to accelerate a spacecraft at the speed of light, which is why this ability is virtually impossible to do(at least in the physical world).

Based on Einstein’s Relativity and the example mentioned earlier, we learn that space and time are independent of human experience. Since our own perception of space and time is bound to a single reference frame, time appears to be constant, linear, and absolute to us. Physics teaches us that this is an illusion and that our perception deceived us within living memory. We are barley able to visualise this spacetime continuum, or deal with it in practical terms, because human consciousness is bound to the human body, which is in turn bound to a single reference frame. We live within the confinements of our own spacetime cubicle.

I have included 2 videos for you to view, it help you get a better understanding of Time Dilation. (The 2nd video is part 2 of another video, you may want to watch part 1 first, part to is featured because this is where they begin talking about Time Dilation about half way in.)

"Imagining the Tenth Dimension" by Rob Bryanton

If you are in, or aware, of the tenth dimension, this means that you are able to place yourself in any realm of possibility (and impossibility) that can be imagined. Essentially, you can change the entirety of the world around you to the exact specfications you want.

The Tenth Dimension is the sum of all possible universes that have the same initial conditions as ours, and the sum of all possible and impossible universes with different initial conditions from ours. Basically if you can interact with or are in the tenth dimension... there is nothing that can't be done... anything can be done because all possibilities and impossibilites are achievable.

Quantum Entanglement

I'm glad scientist are giving this serious inquiry instead of writting this off as clearvoyant nonsense. We can only know and come to a conclusion after we have applied the scientific method to these phenomena. The video below is from a program called 'Mind Over Matter', in which, Dr. Kit Pedler and TV presenter Tony Bastable discuss how paranormal mental phenomena is compatible with principles in quantum theory.
